The reason why laser engraving machine cannot engrave metal is analyzed

Laser engraving machines are commonly used in wood products, plexiglass, glass, stone, crystal, kroner, paper, dual color plate, alumina, leather, resin, etc. However, there are problems in metal carving by laser engraving machine. The reasons are as follows:
1. Dot matrix engraving is similar to high definition dot matrix printing. The laser head swings from side to side, carving out a line consisting of a series of points at a time, and then the laser head moves up and down at the same time to carve out a number of lines, finally forming the entire image or text. Scanning graphics, text and vectorized graphics and text can be carved using lattice.
2. Vector cutting is different from dot matrix carving. Vector cutting is carried out on the outer contour line of pictures and texts. We usually use this mode to cut through wood, kernels, paper and other materials, or to mark the surface of a variety of materials.
3. Engraving speed: engraving speed refers to the speed at which the laser head moves, usually expressed as IPS (in. / s). High speed brings high production efficiency. Speed is also used to control the depth of cutting. For certain laser intensity, the slower the speed, the greater the depth of cutting or carving. You can adjust the speed by using the engraving machine panel, or by using the computer's print driver. Within a range of 1% to 100%, the adjustment was 1%. 4. Engraving intensity: the engraving intensity refers to the laser intensity that shoots into the material surface. For a specific carving speed, the greater the intensity, the greater the depth of cutting or carving. You can use the engraving machine panel to adjust the intensity, or you can use the computer's print driver to adjust. Within a range of 1% to 100%, the adjustment was 1%. 5. Spot size: laser beam spot size can be adjusted by lenses with different focal lengths. Small speckle lenses are used for high resolution engraving. Large speckle lenses are used for low resolution engraving, but for vector cutting it is the best choice. The standard configuration for the new device is a 2.0-inch lens. Its spot size is in the middle, suitable for various occasions.
Laser engraving machines generally use CO2 lasers, and the power of laser tubes used today is in the range of small and medium power. The maximum is 300W. Metal absorbs less laser light at this wavelength. So laser engraving machines are generally not used to carve metal.
