High-energy ultraviolet photons directly destroy many molecular bonds on the surface of the nonmetallic material, use the "cold" light corrosion treatment technology of machining of parts with smooth edges and a minimum of coking. Moreover, the characteristics of ultraviolet short-wave length itself have advantages for mechanical microtreatment of metals and polymers. It can be focused on the point of submicron orders of magnitude, so can make small parts processing, even in the low level of the pulse energy, also can get very high energy density, effective material machining micro holes is a widely application in the industry, the main form in one of two ways:

One is to use infrared laser: to heat the material on the surface of the material and vaporize it (vaporize) to remove the material, which is often called thermal processing. Mainly use YAG laser (wavelength 1.06 mu m).

2 it is to use ultraviolet laser: high-energy ultraviolet photons directly destroy many molecular bonds on the surface of the non-metallic materials, molecules out of the object, this way will not produce the high quantity of heat, so called cold work, mainly adopts ultraviolet laser wavelength (355 nm).
